Who is God?

Scripture-based worship connects us deeply with God in all His fullness. By intentionally engaging with the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—through Scripture, we experience a richer, more complete relationship with God.

Each day, taking time to read just one verse that reveals an aspect of the Father's provision, the Son's redemption, or the Holy Spirit's guidance can transform our worship from routine to revelation. This practice isn't about theological complexity but about heart connection—allowing God's Word to illuminate different facets of His character and responding in authentic adoration.

As we begin this journey of finding God’s character through Scripture, prepare to encounter God in new, profound ways and ask yourself a few questions after reading to really dig in deeper:

  1. What does this reveal about God?

  2. What does this reveal about myself?

  3. Who could I share this with this week?

Read one Scripture and worship Him for each aspect of His character.

Father:

  • Genesis 1-3 — Genesis 1:1 (ESV): "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."

  • Psalm 27:10 (ESV): "For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in."

  • Psalm 103:13 (ESV): "As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him."

  • Psalm 104:24 (ESV): "O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures."

  • Psalm 105:1 (ESV): "Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!"

  • Psalm 139:13 (ESV): "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb."

  • Isaiah 40:11 (ESV): "He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young."

  • Isaiah 49:15 (ESV): "'Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.'"

  • Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV): "'For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.'"

Son:

  • Psalm 103:2-3 (ESV): "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,”

  • Isaiah 53:5 (ESV): "But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed."

  • The Gospels — John 3:16 (ESV): "'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.'"

  • Colossians 1:15 (ESV): "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation."

  • Ephesians 1:20-21 (ESV): "that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come."

  • Hebrews 1:3 (ESV): "He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,"

Holy Spirit:

  • Romans 8:26 (ESV): "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."

  • Zechariah 12:10 (ESV): "'And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and prayer, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.'" Isaiah 61:1 (ESV): "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;"

  • Acts 1:8 (ESV): "'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.'"

  • Acts 4:31 (ESV): "And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness."
