Fruits of the Spirit-Filled Life (Prepare for Harvest Pt. 5)

Pastor Chris Pletcher — June 8th, 2025

It’s PENTECOST!

Let’s read Galatians 5, Ephesians 5 and 1 Corinthians 12… I want us to briefly reflect on 3 reasons why we should PRAISE GOD for the gift of the Holy Spirit.

1. He is the ONLY ONE who can set us free from the misery and tyranny of our flesh.

Galatians 5:19-24 // Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

2. He is the ONLY ONE that can empower us to contribute to God’s Kingdom work.

1 Corinthians 12:1-7 // Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

3. He is the ONLY ONE that can sustain us as lifelong disciples of God’s wisdom.

Ephesians 5:15-21 // Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

These are the fruits of the Spirit-filled life:

  • Character

  • Power

  • Wisdom

  • Joy, Gratitude and Humility
