Partnering with God's Dreams (Those Who Dream Part 4)
Partnering with God's Dreams
When God moves, it’s often through people. This is the mystery and beauty of His kingdom: that His divine plans are realized through human partnership. The stories we read throughout Scripture—of Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah—are all testimonies to this truth. God’s dreams are activated not in isolation, but through the obedience, sacrifice, and stewardship of His sons and daughters.
God Advances His Kingdom Through Willing Hearts
The lives changed in our community are evidence of God’s movement. He’s transforming people—not just because we gather weekly, but because we are choosing to live lives that are surrendered and aligned with His purposes. It’s a beautiful thing to witness: a community saying, “Here we are, God. What do You want to do today?”
Maturity in our relationship with God is marked not just by asking Him to bless our plans, but by asking what’s on His heart. Like children growing up, we move from “God, here’s what I want” to “God, what do You want?”
Dreaming with God Requires Partnership
God may have a dream for a city or a people, but until someone partners with Him, that dream can remain unactivated. For example, there’s a dream in God's heart for a sound of worship to rise from the soil of Salt Lake City—a place with a unique spiritual history and culture. This isn’t about chasing trends; it’s about responding to what God is already stirring.
Through obedience, sacrifice, and stewardship, our church is saying yes. That’s why we’ve invested in a worship studio and supported the creation of original songs by our own worship leaders. These are not just songs—they are declarations from the hearts of the people of this city.
Five Dreams on God’s Heart for Our Church
We sense God inviting us to pursue five specific dreams together:
Sing to the Lord
Cultivating a culture of worship where new songs rise from this land.Reach the Lost
Living the Great Commission, seeking the one as Jesus does.Serve the Least
Loving the vulnerable in our city with intentionality and compassion.Settle the Land
Establishing roots as a church family—not just in buildings, but in lasting presence and commitment.Shape and Send Leaders
Equipping people to walk out their calling, whether locally or globally.
These aren’t just ideas—they’re invitations. And God is looking for willing hearts to partner with Him in each of these areas.
Faith Is Always the Way Forward
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 12 that we have received a kingdom that cannot be shaken. While the world trembles, we stand on the unshakable foundation of God's promises. But stepping into those promises requires faith.
Consider Israel: delivered from Egypt, they stood at the edge of the Promised Land. It was an 11-day journey from slavery to inheritance. But fear and unbelief turned it into a 40-year wandering. Ten of the twelve spies chose fear over faith, and an entire generation missed the fulfillment of a promise because they walked by what they saw, not by what God said.
This lesson is for us too. Faith moves us forward; fear holds us back. Every dream of God involves a step of faith, and there will always be giants in the land. But we’re not a people who shrink back.
The Lost Are Still on God's Heart
Luke 15 reminds us that God leaves the ninety-nine to find the one. You were the one. And now, we get to join Him in seeking others who are still far off. This is the essence of the gospel: Jesus receives sinners and eats with them—and we’re all evidence of that grace.
We’re not here to build a cool church. We’re here for the next one. The next lost person. The next life changed. The next worship song rising from this soil. The next leader shaped and sent. The next step of faith.
Let’s Move Forward Together
Now is not the time to pull back. It's time to press on. As Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14 (ESV):
“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Let us be a people who press on—not by sight, but by faith. Not with fear, but with bold expectation. The dreams on God’s heart are ready. The only question is: are we?
Reflection Questions:
What is one area in your life where God might be inviting you to partner with Him in faith?
Are there any “giants in the land” currently causing you to hesitate on something God has spoken?
How can you practice obedience, sacrifice, and stewardship this week in response to God’s dreams?
